So check this out, I was in the gym the other day and there was this guy that was just straight up talking nonsense. He was saying all this shit about how supplements are not even good for you and how you don't even need them. I was straight up about to knock this guy out. But, he was like six feet tall and I didn't want my tombstone saying, "he died for the supplements."
Sounds a little lame. That did get me thinking though. A lot of people actually do think like him. That's why I'm here to clear up the confusion. Here's 7 reasons why you absolutely need supplements.
1.
Let's face the obvious fact here. The world has changed a lot in the past hundred years. Especially when it comes to agriculture. You see all those paleo guys telling you eat like a caveman. News flash numb nuts, the world is not how it was way back then. It's changed. So shut your trap. But anyways, because of these new agricultural practices like pesticides, a lot of the nutrients that are found in the foods that we eat get lost. So we don't get that same impact that we've been looking for. But see, that's where supplements come in. They give us a fighting chance against this rapidly changing economy so that we actually get to keep the nutrients that were robbed from us.
2.
Another big reason why we should take supplements is because we cook, plain and simple. Sounds a little confusing doesn't it? You see, humans have not evolved to eat a whole bunch of foods raw. So what happens then? We have to cook. By cooking, it removes a lot of the nutrients found in those certain foods. We're practically left with nothing. I'm not saying don't eat your vegetables. Eat your freaking vegetables. And, I'm not saying to go out and buy cans of spinach like you're freaking Popeye. What I am saying is though, be smart about it. If you know nutrients like zinc and magnesium get lost when you cook broccoli, maybe you should take something to make up for it. Just a thought.
3.
Most of the food we eat is GMO. I hate to burst your bubble here but blueberries can not be that big. I know it's sad but, although we can't fight big companies like Monsanto, we can definitely work a lot smarter than them. That's why you take supplements. See, when the foods are being modified, a lot of the good stuff in them is too. So we don't get a chance to reap the same benefits that they may provide. However, with supplements, it more than makes up for any deficiencies these foods may have. So you actually get to feel strong and healthy without just looking strong and healthy.
4.
Probably something that you might not even consider is shelf life. When fruits and vegetables are plucked from the ground, pesticides and all, it's not like it's being served to you then and there. It gets put on grocery shelves where it stays there for days on end. Maybe even months until you make the decision to take it. During that time though, these foods are not in their natural environment. So you don't have the same resources to provide you with those nutritional benefits. Who can fix that? Supplements can.
5.
We all know about the terrors of pollution and what it can do to the environment, but how much do we know about what it can do to our bodies? See the pollution in the air, in the water and in our foods causes our bodies to work a lot harder to get rid of those harmful chemicals. So we're left completely drained of important minerals and vitamins. We're left feeling tired, slow and just generally unhealthy. Usually vitamins A, C and E are the first to go. Be sure you get those ones first.
6.
Everybody's body is different. Sure you might not need this type of supplement, but others do and they may need a lot of it. That's why I say, everyone should not take one particular type of supplement, but everyone should take some form or the other.
7.
Last but not least, most supplements have been proven to help you treat health conditions that a lot of the foods can't do anything about. I've listed all the research for the supplements in the references below, so feel free to check those out.
And that's seven reasons why you absolutely, definitely need to take supplements. Or at the very least, try them. If I missed any, or if there is any supplement that you want to give a shout out to, leave a comment down below. And as always, don't forget to hit that subscribe button :)
